Bringing Together Global Educational Resources to Empower Sri Lankan Youth for International Development

iCEE 2026 International Career and Education Expo Successfully Held in Colombo
Co-hosted by Independent Television Network (ITN) of Sri Lanka, ITN MMC Campus and JJL International, the iCEE 2026 International Career and Education Expo opened in Colombo on the 3rd. Dr. Harini Amarasuriya, Prime Minister of Sri Lanka, attended the opening ceremony and delivered a keynote address. Bringing together high-quality educational resources from China, Australia, New Zealand and other countries, the Expo builds a professional and international exchange platform for Sri Lankan youth for further study and career development.

The exhibition venue was packed with visitors and enjoyed great popularity. Nearly 1,000 participants registered online for programmes, and close to 1,000 visitors came to the exhibition site. A large number of Sri Lankan young students and parents came to connect with overseas university representatives. In addition to traditional popular study destinations such as Australia and New Zealand, China has become one of the most favoured overseas study destinations for Sri Lankan students. Many young visitors consulted about pathways to study in China, available majors and talent training programmes, demonstrating strong local demand for international education.

Prime Minister Dr. Harini Amarasuriya stated in her address: “Equipping the younger generation with knowledge, skills and new opportunities lays a solid foundation for Sri Lanka’s future national development. The government is committed to advancing higher education and vocational and technical education in tandem, building an education system where vocational and technical qualifications enjoy the same value and recognition as university degrees, so as to fully broaden international development pathways for young people.”

Centered on the core theme of “Study & Work”, the Expo gathered well-known universities and educational institutions from China, Australia, New Zealand and other countries. It features two major sections: institutional consultation booths and special forums on international education. Exhibitors provided visiting students and parents with one-stop services including one-on-one admission counselling, major introduction, scholarship briefing and overseas internship & career planning, answering all kinds of questions about cross-border study and career development.

The Expo received strong support from the Association for Sri Lanka-China Social and Cultural Cooperation (ASLCSCC). As a core organisation committed to people-to-people cultural and educational exchanges between the two countries, the association actively promotes partnerships between Chinese universities and local Sri Lankan higher education institutions. It facilitates the sharing of educational resources, supports industry-university-research cooperation and mutual field visits between universities of both nations, and consolidates mutual trust and talent cooperation in education.

The successful holding of this Expo has built an important platform for Sri Lanka to carry out international educational exchanges with multiple countries. With the continuous efforts of the Expo and all partners, Sri Lanka will further deepen diverse cooperation such as university exchanges and talent training with various nations. International educational exchanges will strengthen people-to-people bonds and promote in-depth regional friendly cultural exchanges.
