Sri Lanka’s Jayaratne Group Chairman Explores Yunnan’s Flower Industry in China
On September 20, 2026, Mr. Gamini Jayaratne, Chairman of Sri Lanka’s Jayaratne Group, led a three-member delegation on a visit to the Kunming Guandu District Flower Industry Development Association to learn more about Yunnan’s flower industry.The delegation was received by Mr. Xiang Fei, Vice President of the Association and Deputy General Manager of Yunnan Xiuhai Biotechnology Co., Ltd., together with Ms. Qiao, Secretary General of the Association.During the visit, Ms. Qiao introduced the delegation to the development of Yunnan’s flower industry and the work of the Association. The delegation also visited the Kunming transit warehouse of Yunnan Xiuhai Biotechnology Co., Ltd., where Mr. Xiang provided an overview of the company’s operations. Through an on-site introduction to the company’s development of new flower varieties, quality control systems, production capacity and supply operations—particularly for Phalaenopsis orchids—the delegation gained a closer understanding of key stages across the flower supply chain, including collection, transit, packaging and distribution.
Mr. Gamini Jayaratne spoke highly of the development of Yunnan’s flower industry and the work of The Kunming Guandu District Flower Industry Development Association. He expressed particular interest in importing Yunnan-grown Phalaenopsis orchids, chrysanthemums, roses and lilies into Sri Lanka, noting the strong local demand for these flower products.
The visit by Mr. Gamini Jayaratne and his delegation represents another concrete step by the Association in strengthening connections between Yunnan’s flower industry and overseas markets. By inviting international buyers to visit local enterprises and see production and supply operations firsthand, the Association enables overseas partners to experience the quality of Yunnan flowers, gain a deeper understanding of local flower enterprises and their quality-control practices, and build greater mutual trust. Such exchanges help create more effective business links for bringing Yunnan flowers to international markets.
Going forward, the Association will continue to serve as a bridge connecting government, enterprises and international markets. Through practical and results-oriented services, it will encourage more international buyers and partners to visit Yunnan, Dounan and local flower enterprises, facilitate effective connections between industrial resources and market demand, and support more high-quality “Yunnan Flowers” in reaching global markets.
