Chinese Culture Meets Sri Lankan Students Through 15 Nationwide Exhibitions

The Association for Sri Lanka-China Social and Cultural Cooperation (ASLCSCC), in collaboration with the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Sri Lanka, will organize 15 exhibitions under the theme “Chinese Culture Meets Students in Sri Lanka” during this year.

With the support of the Western Provincial Ministry of Education, ASLCSCC will conduct exhibitions in 10 schools within the Western Province, while an additional five exhibitions will be held in schools outside the province.

The first exhibition was held on 11th June at the Defence Services Command and Staff College of Sri Lanka.

The second exhibition was held at Malabe Sri Rahula Girls’ School on 16th June. Mr. Harsha Wijewardena, Secretary of the Western Provincial Council, participated as the Chief Guest, while Madam Ji Lili, Cultural Counselor of the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Sri Lanka, attended as the Guest of Honour.

Mrs. Indrani Rodrigo, Principal of the school, together with ASLCSCC officials including Mr. Indrananda Abeysekera, President; Mr. Nandasena Madawanarachchi, National Organizer; Mr. Mahendra Wijetunga, Treasurer; and Mr. Lester Rupasinghe, Assistant Secretary, also participated in the event.

The third exhibition was held at Kottawa Ananda Vidyalaya on 18th June.

Mrs. Lalani Namarathne, Director of the Western Provincial Ministry of Education, attended as the Chief Guest. Mrs.Disna Welikala ,Principal of the school  and ASLCSCC officials, including Mr. Indrananda Abeysekera, President; Mr. Mahendra Wijetunga, Treasurer; Mr. Lester Rupasinghe, Assistant Secretary; Mr. Nandana Jayasinghe, Executive Committee Member; and Mr. Nuwan Udara Karunarathne, Member of the ASLCSCC Media Council Executive Committee, also participated in the event.

The exhibitions feature lectures on Chinese characters and calligraphy, live calligraphy demonstrations, Chinese paper-cutting workshops, art and craft exhibitions, photo exhibitions, martial arts demonstrations, and several other cultural activities aimed at strengthening friendship and cultural understanding between Sri Lanka and China among school students.

Dr.Wang Li, Dr.Wang Fei, Mrs .Zhang Min and Mrs. Zeng Xinyun (Olu) will conduct lectures and demonstrations.
